Kitchen

Everything on our menu is created in our own kitchen using local fresh seasonal ingredients. We are so lucky to be able to buy lamb and beef from Place Farm whose herds can be seen grazing in the park around Firle Place. Game comes from Firle Estate, most of our fish comes from Shoreham, and in the summer the Vicar goes fishing and brings us buckets of prawns and mackerel as well as tiny sweet wild strawberries and wild mushrooms from the Downs. Our bread is baked every day at Flint Owl bakery in Glynde.

The Menu

Our menus are adjusted every day to reflect what's fresh and available. The menus below are an indication of what's currently on offer. We always serve our famous roasts on Sundays. There are three different choices including a vegan option.

We are open for breakfast every day from 9am – 11am. In warmer weather, you can eat outside in our orchard or on The Ram Beach (and watch the world not go by.) In winter you can put your feet up by our open fires and enjoy a cosy breakfast.

Food is served every day from 9am - 9pm.

  • "Stylish bedrooms, good pub grub, a lovely walled garden and characterful interiors, within the South Downs National Park. It was 5.30pm and the Ram Inn, in the engaging, mildly raffish village of Firle, was heaving with happy, muddy people. it’s the real thing: a genuine, much-loved pub in a genuine, much loved village."

  • "There's nothing predictable about the menu, with seriously good game from the Firle estate and fishermen delivering their catch each morning. The snug bar, with a dartboard and cricket bats, is where you warm up with a pint of Sussex bitter, and there's relaxed, candlelit dining in the stable room."
